East Side Pies engaged Holmes Architecture to re-envision their original delivery-only facility into East Side Pies Dine-In and the Side Spot Superette, in a full embrace of the timeless synergy between pizza and beer. The CMU building, which was previously home to a record shop, was fully gutted and a new grease trap, exhaust vent hood system, and cold walk-in storage installed. The shared restroom facilities with a common vestibule allows guests to pass freely between the tenant spaces without leaving the building. A generous outdoor patio affords opportunities for neighbors to spread out, and a new creative parking layout doubled the original count on a very tight site. Additionally, the existing kitchen was optimized for their high volume delivery production, all while maintaining continuous business operations during the construction process.
