The small community of Saint Gabriel, Louisiana, has been shaped over the course of years by a fruitful and continuous collaboration between architects and community leaders. The latest step in this relationship is the commissioning of a new town hall and municipal offices. The building’s architecture draws inspiration from the front porch, signifying welcome & comfort. The modern expression of the porch utilizes deep eaves to create spaces of shade & shelter around the building edges. A signature curtain wall facade greets the community with transparency, while warm wood touches on the interior meet cast-in-place board form concrete elements to give a sense of permanence. Horizontal reveal metal panel, wood & metal panel soffits are employed to ground the building in a horizontal language tied to the surrounding landscape.
